St and Peter and St Paul is a prominent and important Grade I Listed church situated in the historic market town of Eye. Our brief was to create a new Abbey Room, undertake a series of conservation and alteration works and prepare the building for the future installation of a new organ. Discovery of a number of brick built tombs dating to circa 1700 influenced the design of the floor structure and a structural steel frame supporting a platform was designed to support the new organ. The works involved protracted negotiation with the Diocese, SPAB, English Heritage, The Council for the Care of Churches and the County Archaeologist. | |
