St Peter and St Paul
Role: Planning, Design & Project Management
Scope: Listed Building, Conservation Alteration
Client: Eye PCC
St and Peter and St Paul is a prominent and important Grade I Listed Building situated in the historic market town of Eye in mid Suffolk. OWL Architect’s brief was to create a new Abbey Room, undertake a series of conservation and alteration works and prepare the building for the future installation of a new organ. Discovery of a number of brick built tombs dating to circa 1700 influenced the design of the floor structure and a structural steel frame supporting a platform was designed to support the new organ. The works involved protracted negotiation with the Diocese, SPAB, English Heritage, The Council for the Care of Churches and the County Archaeologist before planning consent was granted.
