The site is approximately 1 hectare in size, is brown field and occupies a sustainable and important location in the village of Thurston. The scheme was consented at appeal and endorsed by the inspector as ‘beneficially superseding the mundane design previously permitted and effectively introduces a more distinctive ‘landmark’ building alongside the entrance to this important site. In my opinion this is to the advantage of the street scene and the appearance of the wider locality.’.
