'We are a small team that aim to make buildings that perform well.  We work on projects large and small, old and new.   In a changing world, the environment and our response to it is becoming a key consideration in the work we do.  Energy use is a function of the things we all do inside buildings.  Properly understanding clients' needs is therefore key to creating properly sustainable buildings.
We can't do this in isolation and we draw on relationships with many other disciplines and a rich mix of clients to deliver bespoke buildings that honestly express something of their purpose and composition. In short, we're here to help.'

What We Do

Our work encompasses contemporary design and historic buildings and has won a number of awards.  We operate as a small team on a collaborative basis to deliver solutions that have both relevance and value to our clients. Underpinning this is an acceptance that buildings must offer long-term service and perform both economically and environmentally.

OWLA work on projects in the range £50K - £7 million in many areas including the residential, care, commercial and community sectors.  We are also familiar with grant-funded, self-build and modest domestic projects.  We recognize that not all clients and jobs are the same and so we are flexible in the range and scope of services we are able to provide.  A partial service will generally include the planning or production phases of a project whilst a full service will incorporate the construction phase as an integrated whole.  In addition to core design skills the practice is able to provide 3D visualization, party wall advice, Principal Designer’s duties and a number of other ancillary services.

Site inspections are a key part of what we do.

Who We Are

OWL Architects grew out of the successful practice of Tayler and Green Architects in the 1980’s and was incorporated as OWLA Limited in 2015.  Now based in mid Suffolk, we undertake projects both locally and in the wider south-east.  Our clients share the common aim of wanting to successfully realize a building project.  Our motivation is simple; to assist them in doing this the best we can.

As members of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) we subscribe to accepted standards of professionalism and adopt industry best practice wherever possible.  We are happy to discuss your project and invite you to contact us if we can help you in anyway.

We use model making in addition to a variety of software platforms to assist the design process and visualisation.

We work for a variety of clients both private, institutional and public.  Much of our work involves us with domestic projects, local businesses and directly with Parochial Church Councils and School Governing Bodies.  In addition we work for larger client bodies and in association with other building consultants.
